MORE INFORMATION
We want to offer you the easiest fitness experience - removing barriers and questions, so you can workout without worry. Here's some frequently asked questions which will help you get started with FITGym.
Do you offer classes?
We do not offer traditional classes, no. We will offer group training programs soon, and will keep all members updated when this is available.
When is the gym open?
The gym is 24/7, meaning you can workout whenever you'd like, even on public holidays. There is staff in the gym Monday - Friday, and trainers may be working with clients outside of this time.
How do I get into the gym?
During staffed hours, you can enter the building doors (89 Sir Tim Wallis Drive), and come up the stairs to the gym door where you will use your FITGym app on your phone or tag to open the door. Outside staffed times, you will have to use your phone or tag at both the building door, and the gym door.

How do I sign up?
Sign up by heading to either the Sign Up Here button at the top of this page, one of the many sign up buttons through the website (here for ease), or through our FITGym app (linked in step 3)
Then follow these steps to ensure you're ready to go:
-
Select the right membership for you. We have Seniors, Gym Only, All Access. Or if you head to the Pre-paid tab, you can select casual passes for the duration you'd like.
-
Enter your information correctly.
-
Sign into the app with the same information you provided with your membership.
You're good to go!
What equipment do you have?
You can see the equipment and layout of the gym in this tour video.
In the gym we have an extensive range of cardio machines, free weights, pin-loaded machines, weighted machines, cable set ups, squat racks, sled track and ladders, wall balls, kettlebells, buso balls, yoga mats, and bands.
In the recovery room, we have infrared saunas, red-light therapy rooms, massage chairs, compression-therapy leg sleeves, reformer pilates, massage guns, metabolic testing machine, and space to stretch.

What's the difference between Gym Only and All Access?
The Gym Only membership only allows you to access the Gym. The recovery room is a seperate space and on a Gym Only membership, the door is not able to be opened.
Can I get one-time access to the Recovery Room?
You can. You can buy the Casual Pass - All Access. This will mean you have all access to both the gym and recovery room.
Can I pay for just the Recovery Room without the Gym?
This is not an option, as you have to enter through the gym to get to the Recovery Room. The building door on that side of the building is exit only.
It's my first time to a gym - can someone show me around?
Of course! You're always welcome to come for a walkthrough with one of our staff members. If you have signed up and want assistance with a plan, foundations of workouts, or just to understand which machines are used for what, we recommend talking to one of our personal trainers. They're always happy to help!
Start by filling out this form or talk to our staff at reception.
I'm under 18, can I join FITGym?
Our minimum age for members is 18. This is for a few different reasons, the main being safety for you. We only allow under 18's to workout in the gym if they are training with one of our personal trainers. If you would like to get in touch with a personal trainer to begin, fill out this form.
Can I pause and restart my membership?
Yes you can - no need to come into the gym or email us. Using the FITGym App, you can completely manage your membership - pause, restart, change. It's all there.
How do I upgrade/downgrade my membership?
Like above, you can do this all through the FITGym app. If you want to use the recovery room for only two weeks, a month etc, you can upgrade your membership, then when you're done, bring it back to Gym Only. You'll be charged on the next cycle.
Can I bring a friend for free to trial?
Your friend will have to pay a casual rate to enter the gym, but if they decide to sign up, we will refund them their casual rate, or put it towards their sign up fee.
Is there a sign up fee?
Yes there is a sign up fee. This fee is $59.00, however $10 of each sign up fee is donated to the charity of your choice from our three options.
MINT Charitable Trust
Based in Wānaka, MINT empowers individuals with intellectual disability and supports families through inclusive, life-changing programmes and services.
Food For Love is a Wānaka based charity who make wholesome nutritious meals and deliver them with love to anyone going through unexpected challenging times.
Love Wānaka Community Fund connects visitors and locals to projects of impact in our region. Raising funds to protect the landscapes, waterways, wildlife and wild places that define our region and keep people coming back time and time again.
After you sign up you'll be redirected to a page to choose, then each month we will make your donation.
If I already had an account in the old gym, do I have to pay a new sign up fee?
Yes you will.
If I sign up, cancel and then sign up again in a few months time, will I have to pay the sign up fee again?
Yes you will. You do have the option to pause your membership instead, so you don't need to cancel each time.
Do you offer a free trial?
We don't, but we're always happy for you to come for a walkthrough to see the space. If you want to get a workout in before signing up, you can buy a Casual Pass, enjoy a workout, and then if you would like to sign up, we will either refund you the casual pass or deduct it from your sign up fee.
Is it a locked-in contract?
It is not locked in, you can cancel anytime for no extra charge. However to cancel, we do require 4-week notice. So you will have to give us a heads up before you want the membership to end.
What non-gym equipment facilities do you have?
In the gym space, we have storage for your bags, work clothes, work boots etc. We have showers, toilets, accessible bathroom and changing/get ready rooms. We have filtered water tap in the Gym and the Recovery Room. We also have two large decks, perfect for stretching or getting some air.
I'm a Personal Trainer, looking to use your gym.
Great! We're always happy to hear from personal trainers. Please send us an email at info@fitgymwanaka.co.nz with your details, including your experience, training, and how long you'll be in Wānaka for.
I'm an athlete, content creator, or photographer - can I use your gym in exchange for content/promotion?
We usually don't, but send us your information at fitgymwanaka@gmail.com and we will get back to you.
